Railway & Floating Market

Visiting: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Maeklong Railway Market, Tha Kha Floating Market

Duration: 8 hours

The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province is one of Thailand’s most famous, where colourful boats selling goods and produce weave along the waterways. But the Maeklong Railway Market in Samut Songkhram is equally intriguing, and on this tour we combine both in a fascinating shopping expedition.

The Maeklong Railway Market sprawls along the tracks of a working railway line, with everything from fruit and vegetables to homewares and seafood laid out beneath shaded awnings. This might sound rather ordinary, but as soon as the train’s siren sounds, the vendors quickly pile up their goods and move back off the tracks, allowing the train to squeeze through the centre. As soon as it passes, the market reappears as if nothing ever happened!

After visiting the Maeklong Railway Market, we will head into Ratchaburi to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The best way to experience this market is from the water, cruising through the vibrant sights, sounds and smells. While Damnoen Saduak is undoubtedly a tourist favorite, there is also the option to visit the more authentic Tha Kha Floating Market, although it is not open every day.

NOTE: This tour is only possible for cruise passengers staying in the port for at least for one night. If your ship docks at Leam Chabang, please note that it takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours one way between the port and central Bangkok.

Lunch is not included in the cost of the tour, but we will suggest options for local Thai restaurants and provide ample time for you to have a sit-down lunch.
